Students and Staff Gather to Plant Trees at Tianjin University

China's National Tree Planting Day falls on March 12. Tianjin University carried out voluntary tree planting activities for students and staff. University leaders, mentors, class teachers, counselors and student representatives work together to plant trees, and add greenary and vitality to the campus.

Staff from the Department of Logistics and Infrastructure Construction explained the essentials and precautions for tree planting to the students and staff. Students and staff formed several tree planting groups, working together with great enthusiasm. Transporting and lifting seedlings, filling soil, creating cofferdams, and watering... After more than an hour of hard work, several rows of newly planted saplings stand in the student community. 

Before the tree planting activity, when Dong Hang, an undergraduate student from the School of Architecture, learned about this activity, he immediately called on his teachers and friends to participate in, and received an enthusiastic response. 

Dong Hang said: "This tree was planted in front of our dormitory together with our teachers, mentors and friends. It symbolizes that under the guidance of our teachers, we can thrive like small trees and be strong and powerful! We hope that through our efforts, more students could participate in such activities, build a better living environment and contribute to our green world!"

International students participated in this activities together. Timothy Joseph Hutagaol from Indonesia said: "I felt that this small festival can encourage young people and students to make efforts to make the environment greener especially in central area, where it is less area to make green environment like planting trees and similar efforts. It is also a good way to show that anyone can make the contribution to society through planting trees, and the more people to do it, the better the progress."
